If you landed on this page looking for Minnetrista real estate, there is a big chance that you are a horse lover and want to live on small acreage where you can keep your horse. If buyers contact me looking for horse property in the western suburbs, the first thing that comes to my mind is Minnetrista! Why? Minnetrista is horse lover country. The city works hard to ensure that horses and neighborhoods are compatible with each other. Of course, the city has ordinances regarding horses, but those rules are all in place to protect the horses, the horse owners, the neighborhood and the environment. Whether you are a horse owner or not, you should know that the city strives to promote sanitation standards, the welfare of the horses and property owners, and to prevent upleasant odors within urban residential districts. I quick read of the city code will seem sensible to horse owners and non-horse owners alike.

Buying Minnetrista Horse Property
If you are looking to have a private stable, how much land will you be purchasing? Your minimum lot size will be 10 acres with some exceptions, and you can have no more than one horse per pasturable acre. A foal less than one year old is not considered part of the count, nor will a horse that is staying for less than seven days will not be considered part of the count.
Here’s the rub. Right now, there is only one single family residential horse property currently available in the Minnetrista MLS! It may be gone by the time you read this before this page is updated! The turnover for this kind of real estate is very low. Last year, there were only five MLS horse property sales out here! The average sale price was a surprisingly affordable $592,500!

Is this cause for despair? No! Finding suitable horse property in the metro Minnesota area is always a challenge. However, if you have an agent that has lived and sold in this area for years, knows the market, and knows horse owners, you have huge advantage over other buyers. Sometimes I even know about possible opportunities before they hit the MLS. I often know about people who may be selling, so you will be able to take the first shot at making an offer! Minnetrista horse property is a highly specialized market, and it pays to have personal and professional connections with people who live in this area. Minnetrista MN Lake Home and Luxury Home Markets
Minnetrista is situated on the west end of Lake Minnetonka, on a large bay called Halsted’s Bay. The bay is about 35 feet deep at most, and judging from a depth map, it is approximately 30% littoral. Around opener time, King’s Point becomes a favorite for walleye fishermen, who know that live bait works well this time of year here. Live bait is especially effective right where the bottom drops of quickly, which is actually very close to shore. Smallmouth bass and pike show up here too. Walleye fishing is good here all season, but will move to deeper water as summer wears on. Panfish are active in spring if you go a bit upstream from the mouth of Spring Creek. Wherever you go in this bay, look for places where there are piles of rock, especially where lake home owners have used rip-rap and rocks to prevent erosion. After you navigate around this bay, especially on the Minnetrista side, you will soon see why the Sioux called this place Minnetrista. Minnetrista means “crooked waters.”
Some of the most magnificient Lake Minnetonka estates luxury homes are found here. If you want some “eye candy,” we can go touring lakefront property on Minnetonka in the neighborhoods of Palmer Pointe or Enchanted Island Park. For a cool $4-6M you can have a stately old mansion with several hundred feet of lakeshore, or you can go for new construction on lakefront. High quality builders like Keith Waters or McNulty Construction ply their renowned skills here.
